OpenGrid

OpenGrid is a battery-backed EV fast charging network offering reliable DC fast charging at locations drivers frequently visit, like grocery stores and shopping centers.

OpenGrid is on a mission to make EV fast charging as easy as grocery shopping. By leveraging our proprietary battery-backed 50 kW fast charger and offering hassle-free partnerships for commercial real estate, OpenGrid simplifies the development of public EV fast charging networks at grocery-anchored locations, bridging the gap between grocery shopping and EV charging.

“DSPL has played a crucial role in demonstrating our technology’s performance in real-world conditions. By utilizing the lab’s standard grid power, OpenGrid demonstrated 50 kW fast charging with no or minimal infrastructure upgrades for commercial locations. Beyond providing an ideal deployment location, DSPL also connected OpenGrid with Michigan’s robust automotive scene, leading to significant exposure to transportation, real estate, and EV infrastructure stakeholders.”

What they’re doing at the lab

OpenGrid’s OdeumOne battery-integrated chargers offer plug-and-play deployment and are compatible with existing infrastructure, delivering the fast charging EV drivers demand. Our software connects grocery stores with EV drivers, boosting in-store revenue, property value, and customer loyalty, while providing drivers with convenient full charges at familiar locations. We installed a prototype at DSPL to test the hardware and software in a real-world setting, gathering data across various scenarios to refine commercial deployments. We also engaged Detroit EV drivers, offering free charges and gaining insights from their experiences.
